What is Sublimation?

Sublimation is the printing of imagery onto special sublimation paper with dye-sublimation ink. Heat is administered to the printed paper and the sublimation ink is transformed into a gaseous substance, permanently imprinting the artwork into the fabric. Unlike silk screening, sublimation does not leave a noticeable textural difference on garments; the process makes for very soft pieces with resilient color vibrancy. The material suited for sublimation printing is polyester because the fabric retains the most color and detail. There are many benefits for our customers who decide to do this type of printing: low minimum quantities, full color and overall printing at low prices, and high quality colorful prints that offer maximum comfort to newborns.

Laughing Giraffe® polyester / cotton blend blanks and 100% polyester child blanks are manufactured specifically to allow for beautiful sublimation printing.

Artwork
The artwork should be vector artwork, created in Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw or Macromedia Freehand, then exported as a .EPS or AI File. Artwork must be emailed to Clive@kidsblanks.com.
Artwork is available @ $60 per hour (first ½ hour FREE)

Garment Materials
100% Polyester, 5.3 oz/sq.yd Interlock Knit for the brightest colors
65% Polyester / 35% Cotton Blend 5.3 oz/sq.yd Interlock Knit, which is not as bright as 100% Poly, but still takes to sublimation printing with a vintage type look.

Not for use on products that to do not contain polyester

Garment Colors
The opacity of sublimation printing is lesser than that of silk screening, so it is recommended on white and light products (such as pastels) only.
